Professional background: I worked with Subsea Technology in the oil and gas industry for 13 years. Over that time, I had many different roles. They were mainly within the development of new complex subsea systems and products, but I also worked as a product manager. In my last position at my previous employer Aker Solutions, I worked as a global product manager for the portfolio of underwater connection systems and structures.
What made you choose reMarkable?
There were plenty of reasons for me to join reMarkable. I love working with energetic teams full of drive and ambition. Also, after many years in the same industry, I was ready for new challenges and to broaden my area of expertise and knowledge.
My passion is product development. I'm always looking ahead and thinking about future needs. This approach keeps me motivated. When I bought a reMarkable 2, I was immensely impressed by what the team had achieved. I didn't want to miss out on being a part of the next big thing.
I'm everything but spontaneous when it comes to these kinds of decisions. I do a lot of research before making up my mind. Reading about the company and meeting the team convinced me, and then everything just fell into place.
What’s the most significant difference between reMarkable and your previous employer?
Well, it's a pretty big transition going from a company with over 15,000 employees in 20 countries to a company with about 200 employees, and it's a pretty big step going from the oil and gas industry to consumer electronics.
Some of the other more significant differences are the types of technology, the product volumes, the unrestricted way of working, and the ability to strongly influence the processes and products. I'm really looking forward to being a part of this.
How would you describe the culture here?
Becoming a part of the team and getting to know the culture happened faster than I anticipated. I felt comfortable almost at once, even though I was changing both industry and way of working. That was beyond my expectations.
The small number of employees at reMarkable need to handle many different responsibilities. A scaleup needs problem solvers, people who love challenges and never stop being curious. I believe this kind of mindset is crucial, and I've found that is definitely what it’s like at reMarkable. The level of competence is astonishing and everyone is super dedicated, which is truly inspiring.
Finally, what are some of your goals as Senior NPI Manager?
I have many ambitious goals, but mainly it's about utilizing my expertise and knowledge to push reMarkable further. This role motivates me to explore my talents and gives me the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally.
